Risk-bearing capital (RBC)

Risk-bearing capital (RBC) is a balance sheet item that corresponds to the “Technical provisions” typically used in the insurance industry. In accordance with SERV-V, provisions for losses not yet incurred must be shown as equity items. The RBC is determined by means of an actuarial model taking into account all asset portions at risk of loss. The respective value at risk is calculated applying a confidence factor of 99.9 per cent.
