Does combining a degree and a job at SERV work?
We asked.

Diego Büchi, a specialist in internal communications and employer branding at SERV, talks about his experiences of working part-time with a workload of 60% while studying for his bachelor's degree in business psychology.

Diego, what makes your job at SERV special for you?

What I particularly like about SERV is the shared and lived purpose and – with my degree in mind – the real flexibility. For instance, if my working days change due to my degree, it’s no problem to make adjustments. In return, I provide the necessary flexibility wherever it’s needed. It’s an ideal solution for me.

How do you find working with the rest of the team and with other departments?

I particularly value teamwork and mutual support. You see it not just in our daily work but also, for example, in the fact that my colleagues actively support me with my bachelor thesis and share their specialist knowledge. Working in internal communications means I act as an interface within SERV. That gives me a lot of exciting insights into different topics, which makes my day-to-day work very varied. Our cross-departmental teamwork is characterised by respect and a mutual willingness to help each other.

What motivates you in your work at SERV in particular?

I find it really inspiring that my co-workers at SERV strongly identify with our shared goal of strengthening the Swiss economy and securing jobs. It creates a working environment with a clear mission and real meaning. SERV also provides a dynamic, complex and extremely exciting environment that’s constantly evolving. New ideas and suggestions for improvements are welcome, and I can put my knowledge from my degree directly into practice. That benefits my personal and professional development enormously.
