Hydro Power Plant Ilisu: New Experts' Reports on Environment and Resettlement

After their second visit to the site of the planned Ilisu-dam in Turkey, the independent expert teams released their reports on resettlement and environment. The reports show that some of the insufficiencies already criticised in December 2007 regarding the implementation of agreed measures persist. This is mainly due to the lack of institutional and staff capacity on site. However, progress has been made on other measures, upon which the involved Swiss, German and Austrian export credit agencies had conditioned their approval of the project.
